hey all,
what are the advantages of running jaws from the system tray?

I would say it is just a personal preference.
For the beginner user it might be easier having jaws in its own window but i personally want as fewer as possible windows open at the same time. I like programmes than run in the sistem tray because they are not in my way when i do alt+tab.

I agree, the less application windows open the better. It drives some of my friends nuts when they go to look for my JAWS and its in the sys tray, LOL. And its still easy to bring up the menu with insert J.

yeah, it's just out of your way sos you can navigate through the application windows quicker.

Yeah I agree just gets in the way, but if you need it easy to find, then it's cool.

I'm completely with everybody else on this issue. I can't stand having that pesky Jaws window cluttering up the place. Running it from the system tray all the way for me.

yep ditto. I've had my jaws in the system tray for years now and can't stand it at work when I'm alt tabbing around and it's there. can't change it cos others use the puter as well, *grrr*

I've tried it both ways, and prefer jaws in a separate window. It gives me an anchor window to go to if my system is acting freaky, and, just feels better.

However, like I say, I've tried it both ways, and, like others have said, it's a personal preference.

I find JAWs in the system tray very helpful indeed. My dearest mother, when she got her Kodak digital camera for Christmas two years bac, uploaded the Kodak Easy share software on to my, repeat, my, bloody, desktop, so now when I log in and JAWS tries to load, the Kodak Updater agent has a serious disagreement with it and JAWS loses the battle, so I have to make sure everything's shut down before JAWS will load when I press CTRL Escape J or Insert J. Kodak over rides the Auto-start option, so I actually need JAWS in the system tray to stop it cutting out when I log on to this machine.

I hate that damned kodak thing. My daughter put it on my system and I took it out of the registry. No more problem.

I tried deleting the stupid updater agent and that seemed to work a couple of times when I switched on the computer and JAWS didn't cut out and I was able to access the Orange home page without shutting the whole sorry mess of windows down before I loaded JAWS manually.
